CK® is the first non-laser procedure for Presbyopia. The ViewPointTM CK® System utilizes a controlled release of radiofrequency (RF) energy to increase the temperature of the corneal tissue. The treatment is applied with a probe called a KeratoplastTM Tip, which is a sterile, stainless steel probe about the size of a human hair. The KeratoplastTM Tip is introduced 16 to 24 times into the cornea in a circular pattern, to heat and shrink the corneal tissue instead of a laser or scapel. The result is an increased curvature of the cornea to create Monovision, improving your near vision in the treated eye.
CK® was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for hyperopic correction in 2002 and for presbyopic correction in March 2004.
