WHAT IS iCONTACT LENS?

iContact Lens (Implantable Contact Lens) is also commonly known as Phakic Intraocular Lens Implantation or Phakic IOL. An artificial lens is surgically placed inside your eye. Your natural lens is not removed during the surgery but the Phakic IOL is inserted in addition to your natural lens.

Part one requires the use of a YAG Laser to make two small openings in peripheral iris. The openings guard against possible elevation of intraocular pressure immediately following the implantation of the iContact Lens.

Part two is the insertion of the lens.

The lens will be folded and loaded into a small cartridge which will be placed through the incision. As the lens is inserted, it will gently unfold in the eye. Once the lens has fully unfolded, the four corners of the lens will be placed behind your iris and in front of the crystalline lens. This makes the lens invisible to both you and others.
