IntraLASIK
What is IntraLASIK
VISTA Eye Specialist is proud to offer IntraLASIK, a form of LASIK procedure made possible by the IntraLase Laser, to our patients. IntraLASIK is a proven, computer-controlled, all-laser technology with the safest, least invasive option in creating the corneal flap.
The ultra-fast IntraLase FS60™ laser uses an infrared light beam, generating 60,000 pulses per second, to prepare an optimal corneal architecture below the flap.
Using an "inside-out" process, the IntraLase laser is precisely focused to a point within the cornea, where thousands of microscopic bubbles are formed to define the architecture of the intra corneal surface and the resulting flap.
The surgeon controls flap diameter, depth, hinge location and width, and side-cut architecture - factors that can be varied per patient. Bubbles are then stacked along the edge up to the corneal surface to complete step one.
The surgeon then exposes the prepared corneal bed for excimer laser treatment by lifting the flap. The LASIK procedure is complete when the flap is securely repositioned on its beveled edge.
LASIK is performed on an outpatient basis and takes approximately 15 minutes per eye to perform. Although patients often feel some pressure sensation, the procedure is painless. Topical anesthetic drops are used to numb the eye and an eyelid holder is used to prevent blinking. Patient is asked to focus on a target light throughout the procedure.
