Other Services
VISTA also provides diagnosis examinations, treatments and management related to the following :
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an eye disease caused by increased pressure within the eyeball, which leads to damage of the optic nerves and gradual loss of vision. The increase in pressure happens when the passages that normally allow fluid in your eyes to drain, become clogged or blocked. Vision loss to Glaucoma cannot be restored.
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
AMD is an eye disease associated with aging (age 50 years and above) that gradually destroys sharp central vision needed for activities like reading, driving, and recognizing faces.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic Retinopathy is a common diabetic eye disease which damages small blood vessels in the retina. This is due to chronically high blood glucose levels in people with poorly controlled diabetes.
Retinal Detachment
The retina is the light-sensitive layer of tissue that lines the inside of the eye and sends visual messages through the optic nerve to the brain.
When the retina detaches, it is lifted or pulled from its normal position. If not promptly treated, retinal detachment can cause permanent vision loss.
In some cases there may be small areas of the retina that are torn. These areas, called retinal tears or retinal breaks, can lead to retinal detachment.
General Eye Problems
Some of the common and general eye problems include dry eyes, conjunctivitis, chalazion, allergies, pterygium and eye injuries.
Paediatric Eye Care
It is very important that children receive proper eye care, since many vision problems begin at an early age. Without good vision, a child's ability to learn becomes more difficult. Untreated eye problems can worsen and lead to more serious problems which will affect the learning ability and personality while growing up. Some of the common paediatric eye problems include Amblyopia (Lazy Eye), Strabismus (Crossed Eyes), Color Deficiency (Color Blindness), Retinopathy of Prematurity, Shortsightedness, Longsightedness, Astigmatism and Cataracts.
